The Government has set up the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) in order to help Kiwis make the best choice when it comes to energy saving. As part of this energy saving scheme, the New Zealand tyre industry have been working together to help consumers identify fuel-efficient tyres.

The Ecopia compound. How does it save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions?
In a traditional tyre compound, carbon molecules inside the tyre clump together, causing friction and generating heat. This heat equates to energy loss. This means more fuel must be used to replace the lost energy.
The Ecopia compound features the cutting‑edge technology which separates the carbon molecules, minimising energy loss, friction and reduces rolling resistance. This all adds up to less fuel used, and therefore less emissions.
